Somervell County Traffic Warrant Court Routing
The issuing agency is a useful clue. DPS, sheriff, constable, and other authorized agency citations can go through the JP court. A Glen Rose city ordinance or traffic citation belongs with Municipal Court. The city court is separate, so its warrant status should not be presumed to appear in the JP portal.
The JP handles Class C matters and can act as a magistrate. For a city ticket, call Glen Rose Municipal Court at 254-897-2272 before using a county search.
Traffic Warrants in Somervell County
A citation leads to an appearance or payment deadline. A missed date, an unpaid judgment, or noncompliance can then lead to court process. Glen Rose’s warrant sheet names failure to contact the court, failure to comply with an order, and a broken payment plan or promised payment as triggers.
The city sheet uses the word “warrant.” Texas justice and municipal court law also uses capias pro fine for a fine-and-cost judgment. Ask the issuing court which process applies and what it requires.
Somervell County Traffic Warrant: JP Search
The JP portal accepts citation number, driver license with state and birth date, Social Security number with birth date, plate and state, name with birth date, or business name. It does not mark required fields or promise partial-name matching.
Use the exact citation number when possible. If the case appears, call 254-897-2120 to ask whether the current activity is a balance, FTA, arrest warrant, or capias pro fine.
The JP violation search shows these citation and identity routes.
A search result locates the citation; the JP office confirms whether a warrant is active.
How to Check for a Traffic Warrant
Start with the citation number in the JP search if a county or state agency issued the ticket. For a Glen Rose citation, call Municipal Court at 254-897-2272 because the official city sheet gives a phone confirmation route and no public warrant form.
- Search the JP portal by citation, or by name and birth date if the citation is missing.
- Call Glen Rose Municipal Court for a city ticket and current warrant status.
- Call the JP at 254-897-2120 or County Clerk at 254-897-4427 for the court record.
- Ask the issuing clerk whether a visit is needed and confirm the current address before going.
Do not assume a license notice is the same as a warrant record. The court that issued the ticket can explain its own case, while DPS handles a separate reported-compliance step.
Somervell County Traffic Warrant: Glen Rose
The city’s court sheet says to call 254-897-2272 to learn whether an outstanding warrant exists. It does not publish an online warrant list, payment portal, or bond amount. Its instruction says payment to cancel the warrant must be cash, check, or money order after a guilty or nolo plea.
The city home page says Municipal Court moved to 300 NE Barnard Street at the Lane Memorial Building on April 20, 2026. Older court and police pages still show 201 NE Vernon, so call before visiting.
What a Traffic Warrant Shows
The portals expose citation or case fields, not a verified warrant record schema. No public local warrant-number format is published. Use the sample stamp only as a reminder to ask for the actual court identifier.
| Citation or cause | Format not published; use the identifier shown by the court |
|---|---|
| Offense | Traffic or city citation; confirm the charge with the clerk |
| Issuing court | JP Precinct 1 or 2, or Glen Rose Municipal Court |
| Balance or bond | Ask the issuing court; a portal balance is not a bond schedule |
| Status | Ask whether active, recalled, served, or otherwise cleared |
Use the citation or case identifier when calling. The clerk can distinguish an unpaid balance, failure-to-appear event, warrant, or later recall entry in the local file.
Somervell County Traffic Warrant Payment
The County Clerk payment PDF is a distinct payment route. It lists card, phone, mail, and in-person options, bureau code 7122173, and a 2.35 percent or $1 minimum card fee. The PDF warns that card payments are not processed until the next business day and that a warrant is not recalled until the fine posts.
The Clerk’s web page lists 102 NE Vine Street, while the PDF says in-person payments are at 107 NE Vernon. Call 254-897-4427 to confirm the right counter before travel. These terms do not automatically apply to JP or city payments.
Paying or Lifting a Traffic Warrant
Do not pay through a portal until you confirm it belongs to the issuing court. Ask whether the matter needs a plea, payment, reset, hearing, bond, or other appearance. Somervell does not publish one current payment menu for every JP and city case.
- Confirm the court, citation number, amount, and active status.
- Ask what plea, payment, reset, or appearance is required.
- Use only the method the issuing court approves and save the receipt.
- Ask when the warrant is recalled and whether DPS must receive a separate report.
Warning: Glen Rose says its warrant remains outstanding until payment is received; the County Clerk route says recall waits until the fine posts.
Somervell County Traffic Warrants: DPS
Texas Transportation Code Chapter 706 allows participating courts to report qualifying failures to appear or pay for license-renewal denial. DPS says to contact the court for the amount, trial, appearance, or payment path. DPS license staff cannot confirm warrants.
After a court reports clearance, DPS materials describe three to five business days for a driver-record update and up to seven business days for ticket clearance in its FAQ. Those estimates do not promise how fast Somervell’s court record will change.
Traffic Warrant vs FTA and License Holds
A court warrant, an FTA or FTP report, and a license-renewal hold are related but distinct. A court controls its warrant; the DPS program handles qualifying reports from participating courts. A payment can satisfy one duty while another case or hold remains.
| Mechanism | What Triggers It | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Court warrant | Missed date, order, or unpaid judgment | Process under the issuing court’s authority |
| FTA/FTP report | Qualifying matter reported by a participating court | May affect license renewal |
| Clearance notice | Court reports payment, appearance, or other resolution | DPS updates after processing |
Clearing the DPS report does not automatically answer what happened to a court warrant. Confirm both records with the issuing court and check whether the driver record has updated before relying on a license notice.
